Gundog Training Beginner Class Commencing Sunday 17th November at 10am for 8 weeks

What's included in the 8 week course?

Whether you are looking to enter Field Trial Tests or just want better obedience training, this is the course for you.

The 8 week course covers verbal/whistle commands, heel work, steadiness, retrieval work including marked, blind, memory and multi retrieves, recall,  whistle sit (static and walking),  stop whistle, hunt whistle, sit/stays and much more

Who is it suitable for?

It is suitable for any dog aged 6 months and over, already having a good basic understanding of obedience.  The course will be structured to suit your dog's own level and current abilities.

What do I need?

A whistle (recommended an ACME 210.5 or 211.5). A slip lead. Suitable bag/waistcoat to carry dummies etc

How many dogs will be there?

There will be a maximum of 10 dogs/handlers in each class.  This is to ensure that each dog gets dedicated time and owners can ask any questions.  Only 1 handler per dog to avoid disruption and confusion for the dog (spectators are more than welcome)

Will I need to train my dog between sessions?

YES!!  We cover the ground training during our classes, but this will require regular, small training sessions in your own time for successful learning. Dogs learn through repetition and therefore regular training sessions between lessons is vital.  Training sessions only need to be 5-10 minutes at regular intervals to keep your dog motivated and interested.  A weekly handout of the session will be given for you to take home and practise

How much does it cost and terms of payment/cancellations?

The 8 week course is £130 and includes a certificate on week 8 for successful completion of all the tasks. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice to secure your place and no later than 10 days before course commences. If you have not paid and the class becomes full with paying clients, priority will be given to them and you will have to wait until the next 8 week course.  Due to the demand of each class, if you have to miss a class for any reason it will not be repeated. It will be your responsibility to train your dog based on the course notes. No refunds will be given for missed classes.

What is available after completion of this course?

If your dog successfully completes the beginners level, they will be awarded a place on the Novice Gundog Group

Please ensure you have allowed suitable planning/time to be at class on time. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before class is due to commence as this interrupts owners/dogs using the facilities before.  Ensure you leave the paddock immediately after class, again this avoids disruption to other users of the paddock.  Thank you for your cooperation in this.
